Gold Coast Style
"Sharon's hand-crafted artisan pieces make the client's dining room feel like dining in an elegant outdoor garden. Downstairs is a tropical paradise with live fish and an upstairs media room is decked out in glossy red shells for a rockin' vibe."

The formal dining room is just off the foyer, and my goal was to make a grand entrance to remember. I brought the nature theme inside by custom designing a hand-painted wall covering using a centuries-old Asian technique. The paper runs from the walls onto the ceiling and wraps into the custom coffered details. The cherry table in a high polish finish with circular bases extends to 192 inches when opened. Lustrous sheer window treatments made from a golden mesh fabric show no hardware and give the illusion of falling from the ceiling. The stained glass French doors frame the entrance with a motif of cranes in a pond, created by artisans in their upstate New York studio.
Upstairs, the drama builds in the media room known as βthe red room.β" I opted to keep the gene Simmons painting and rock out the walls with a crimson wall covering made from mother of pearl shells. The black spiked lighting accents are edgy, while the custom walnut built-ins have rounded fronts and leather backs to soften the space. The ceiling has a speckled tan and black covering for a cozy touch.
Downstairs, the powder room off the pool called for a fun moment. I added a fish tank with coral and rainbow fish for a tropical water feel. The large format jungle mural made from water-safe tiles covers one wall, and the other walls are protected with turquoise vinyl. The aqua vanity with nickel inlays and hot pink window treatment complete the watery paradise!
